Youth and Engagement Officer
West Cumbria (currently working remote)
37.5 hours per week (30 hours youth work & 7.5 engagement officer)
30 hrs Fixed term contract until 31st Sept 2021
(7.5 engagement officer currently ends Sept 30th 2020)
We are looking for an enthusiastic, hard working individual who is passionate about supporting people to live their best life, to join our team. You will perform an exciting dual role that consists of Youth Work and Engagement/Development work. This is a great opportunity, particularly if you are looking for variation in your work.
As a Youth Worker you will support our Youth Project, Talk–Active. Talk-Active is funded by Children in Need and supports young people with learning difficulties and/or autism from urban and rural Cumbria (aged 10-18) to develop key skills and knowledge to support personal development, enhanced wellbeing and effective preparation for adulthood.
You will develop, design and facilitate activities, workshops and “Crucial Conversations” at a range settings including People First offices, youth clubs, schools and community events (remote during Covid restrictions).
For 7.5 hours a week you will work as an engagement officer. You will be involved in our Self Advocacy Groups, Lead Group and our ‘We Are All People First’ project. You will be working with adults with learning difficulties and /or autism and will help develop the groups, project, plan and facilitate sessions and events.
This dual role does require some evening and weekend work.
