This week we were joined by friendly mix of our members, learners and Keeping People Connected callers, for our first virtual We Are All People First pop up event.
Initially planned as a face-to-face event, in the wake of Covid and safety measures, we embraced digital methods to connect together. Inspired by conversations that our callers have been having as part of our Keeping People Connected helpline, our first pop up event was designed to bring people together in a friendly and informative way.
Taking the now very popular form of a virtual quiz, our first event was an upbeat session that aimed to raise awareness of Covid-19, with issues, advice, guidance and tips to stay safe. The quiz had six rounds each with five questions covering: Covid news, events and guidance, sport, and lockdown entertainment.
Every one of our guests had a blast of a time. We shared great conversations and laughs. Members commented that ‘it felt so good to meet up with people we hadn’t seen in a while, even online’.
A new friend to People First, Stephen, said about the quiz:
“It was great. I even came 3rd, won some chocolates and played my accordion for everyone. I told my CPN (Community Psychiatric Nurse) and mother that I had a good time with you lot. When’s the next one?”
We’d like to give a big thank you to our Experts by Experience, Mary and Adam, who work on the We are all People First project who organised most of the quiz and many of the questions.
Thank you to everyone who joined us for this pop up event; we’re looking forward to planning our next session and keeping us all connected through lockdown and beyond. Keep your eyes peeled and your devices ready.
