Do you fancy doing something great in the great outdoors?
For the first time, People First is taking part in a sponsored walk of the beautiful Morecambe Bay. Join us on the 8th of May, for a scenic and unique walk of some of the UK’s most breathtaking coastline.
All beautiful, all fun, and all to support us as we help people with learning difficulties to live their lives the way they want to. Great with family, friends, colleagues, pets or solo.
Taking part is £15 per person with a suggested minimum sponsorship amount of £35. Our team will support you with fundraising ideas and resources to help you hit your goal.
Find out more and sign up below. Places are limited so early sign up is highly recommended.
Date – Sunday 8th May 2022
Start time – 10.15am, although it is recommended walkers are there at least an hour before. That will give you plenty of time to get signed in, take in the scenery and hear the safety briefing.
We'll start at the lovely Arnside Promenade, take a tour of the stunning Lancashire and Cumbria coastline and then finish at Kent’s Bank, near Grange-over-Sands.
The walk is Between 6-9 miles and takes approximately 3-4 hours to complete. Exact distance and timings will be determined on the day based on weather conditions.
To take part, the entry fee is:
- £15 per adult
- £10 per child (aged 6-16 years)
- and £1 per dogs (the dog entry fees are payable on the day)
We also suggest that each person taking part raises a minimum donation of £35 which will directly support people with learning difficulties in Lancashire and Cumbria.
*Please note, that dogs will be required to swim across river crossings at certain points or will have to be carried. Children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult*
We ask that all walkers aim to raise a minimum of £35 sponsorship. Sponsor forms will be provided and our fundraising team will be on hand to support you with ideas and tips to help you hit your sponsorship goal.
All adult walkers will receive a T-Shirt to wear on the day which is yours to keep as a momento of your time doing something amazing for a small charity.
The quickest way to get between the start and finish points of the walk is by train.
We recommend parking at either the start or finish point and using the train.
We DO NOT provide our own transport for walkers, however there will be marshals on hand to help you with parking and advise you on the day.
You will receive more information about travel options in your fundraising pack after you sign up to take part.
Entries close on Saturday the 7th of May.
The walk is suitable for anyone who is comfortable walking over uneven terrain for 3 to 4 hours.
The majority of the walk will be over sand, however you will also be required to wade through channels of water, which can be knee or even thigh-high depending on rainfall, so be prepared to get wet.
