'Tis the season to celebrating our volunteers

As International Volunteers Day drew to a close on the 5th December, we had the honour to get together with our invaluable volunteers from across People First in Cumbria.

We gathered together, volunteers across all areas of the organisation to celebrate another fantastic year of volunteering. From the People First Cafe to Young People First. From Healthwatch to Inclusion, this was a time to acknowledge the time and energy each person has put in, as well as to celebrate the impact each one has had on the customers that we serve.

It gave experienced volunteers the opportunity to share their experiences with new volunteers all the whilst enjoying delicious cake.

The gathering concluded with a presentation to two of our volunteers: Bridget and Will. Both of who received this very special award, recognising their one year of service, giving their time and energy in support of People First.

Reflecting on their service, Michelle, our Volunteering Coordinator shared;

"Without our volunteers we would not be able to reach the amount of people we do across our local community and beyond. The impact that each person has is immeasurable, not just for People First but for individuals themselves. From improving confidence, gaining valuable experience of working in wide range of fields and meeting new people the impact volunteering has had on each person is long lasting."
