David has had the privilege of leading People First for over 24 years. Over this time, he has seen first hand how the organisation has grown but maintained its core values: to support people to lead their lives the way they choose.
David, never shy of working alongside his staff to support and encourage, recently began working with the self advocacy groups in West Cumbria. Being able to connect back with where David began his career at People First, has been a wonderful reminder of the importance of grassroots advocacy and how it truly can save lives.
From the start of her career, Kellie has understood the importance of speaking up for yourself, your rights and live the way you wish to. Throughout her tireless work as an advocate, she has seen first-hand the impact that the simple freedom of living ones life the way one chooses can have, as well as the impact when others try to take these rights away.
As part of the leadership team at People First, Kellie brings her compassionate, empathetic and infectious spirit across the organisation to support our customers across the North of England to live their lives to the fullest.
Outside of work, Kellie's fearless nature is undiminished; especially when she is spending some quality time with her family.
As a proud Mancunian, with a background in finance (and who knew an expert in the production and processing of pork), Steve joined People First in 2023. Since then, Steve has been instrumental in refining process and procedures to ensure People First continues to provide life changing services for years to come. Throughout his career, a driving force for Steve has been that each piece of work he carries out, no matter how big or small, makes a positive difference for others.
You might be able to take Steve out of his hometown, but you can't take his hometown out of Steve; a loud and proud supporter of Manchester City, he can often be found cheering alongside Moochester and Moonbeam no matter the day.
Alice describes herself as caring, compassionate, and driven. As an Independent Advocate, she takes pride in empowering people through her work. She sees her role as inclusive, community-building, and genuinely incredible—something that allows her to make a real difference in the lives of others.
In her spare time, she loves to unwind with a good book, and enjoys knitting and cross-stitching, always working on something creative.
Annette has a background in Human Resources and has worked in a variety of organisations in different roles. She has done many different things, but people are always at the heart of everything she does. She is passionate about equality and fairness and never afraid to speak up to ensure people’s rights stay protected, their voices are heard, and everyone is treated with kindness and respect.
Outgoing, approachable, and is the queen of bringing a lil' bit of sunshine into a room, Cath is People First's Quality and Delivery Manager within the Advocacy team. Having worked through the ranks at People First, Cath is passionate about making sure all her advocates have all the support they need to do the vital work they do. Cath has a central role in maintaining the quality of our service here at People First. She understands that our customers can come to us at what could be their darkest hour, and the responsibility we have to make sure that their voices are heard and rights upheld.
Claire's motto in life is 'live everyday like it's your last', and that's why Claire puts her all into doing the best for each and every one of her clients. For Claire nothing can quite beat the feeling of getting her clients the results they wanted and how this positively impacts them. It's a reminder for us all the power advocacy has.
Claire loves her Formula One and can often be found cheering on her favourite driver on a Sunday afternoon. Will she be going to one the races this year? Maybe Monaco 2025?

Claire, a passionate advocate who constantly works towards helping and empowering others, is an Independent Advocate in Cumbria. Claire is always looking forward to meeting with her clients across the county, getting to know them and finding out how she can best support them with their challenges.

Dakota is our helpful and compassionate Advocacy Hub Co-Ordinator, always trying to lend a hand where she can. Working alongside Louise and Emma, she supports a wide variety of individuals who reach out to the hub each day, ensuring they get the assistance they need.
A true cat lover, she’s always happy to chat about her feline friends. When she’s not at the hub, you’ll find her diving into DIY projects—she’s always got something exciting in the works! As she likes to say, a house is never truly finished.

Eloise joined the Advocacy team in 2024, and brings her bubbly optimism to work each and everyday. With a strong sense of justice, Eloise enjoys working closely with colleagues and customers, talking to people from all backgrounds and making a a change-sometimes in the smallest of ways.
Before People First, Eloise used to work for the National Trust- is this where her love of a good fantasy book came from? No matter the time of year, or day, there's nothing that quite beats cosying up with a good book and transporting into another world.
Jan has worked for over 25 years supporting and advocating for families during their most difficult times following life changing events and trauma, this alongside her own personal experiences of maternity care has given her the skills and passion to offer compassionate support to families with the determination to ensure that all individuals are respected, listened to, heard, and their wishes acted upon.
Jonathan is passionate about creating positive teams within the Advocacy department. Working alongside Quality and Delivery Manager, Cath, Jonathan looks forward to getting the best we can out of each and every day. Working previously within the private sector, he learnt that one of the main ways to do this is to create positive, healthy and sustainable teams. Cath and Jonathan together, make a solid duo that is there to lead the advocates in their day-to-day work.
Katie is a highly professional and analytical advocate, always placing her clients at the heart of her work. As an independent advocate, she finds joy in the simplest moments—the smile of a client when she knows she’s truly made a difference. Whether it’s sharing a cup of tea or just listening, Katie understands that these small gestures can remind people of their value and worth.
In her spare time, Katie is reaching for new heights—literally! She’s working towards her pilot’s license, loving the sense of freedom and fresh perspective that comes with being up in the air. For her, flying is not just about adventure, but also about seeing life from a whole new angle.
Knowledgeable, empathetic and inspirational Kim is an Independent Advocate in Teesside. For Kim, her role is focused on advocating for those in care; making sure rights are upheld and the choices respected. Although not always easy, she embraces the joy of getting her clients what they want or need. Seeing the peace and comfort it can bring them cannot be compared.
Kim is keen pianist and sailer- not at the same time though. She is also an avid camper, and has many joyful tales when her two spaniels are involved.
Asking Kleanth to describe himself in 10 words he said; "Always busy little bee helping people in the community". These words couldn't be more accurate. Kleanth is a passionate NHS Complaints Advocate in South Cumbria, listening to advocacy customer and exploring options and resolutions.
In a previous career as an Interpreter, it's no wonder Kleanth loves to travel, dusting off the cobwebs of his linguistic skills and embracing new cultures and people.

Megan began working at People First within the Education team, working on the front line with our learners as a Job Coach. She later transferred to the Advocacy team, working with clients across Cumberland. This rewarding role, allows Megan to come alongside them to support them through the challenges they are facing and make sure that their voices are heard and their choices respected.
In her down time, Megan can often be found cooking up a new delicious dish to share with friends or working out at her local gym.
Ruth is an inquisitive, compassionate, and daring Senior Independent Advocate who is deeply passionate about putting her clients first in everything she does. She finds great joy in spending time with her clients, working alongside them to achieve their goals and combat the injustices they face. Firefighter turned Advocate, Sue is based in Teesside where she supports customers with their NHS complaints. Conscientious and caring, Sue always looks forwards to whatever a new work day brings and how she can best support a client and their case. Out of hours, Sue is a lover of all things outdoors; whether its camping, country walks or even an alluring adventure on her Harley Davidson motorbike.
As Head of Advocacy, Vicky is driven by a deep passion for fairness and a relentless commitment to fighting for what’s right. Open and approachable, she works tirelessly to drive quality and performance within her teams, always supporting her brilliant managers in their crucial roles. Vicky finds constant energy in hearing about the life-changing work her teams are doing, knowing firsthand how impactful it can be.

Caring, funny, and goal driven, Dilly is our Business Admin Apprentice at People First. Dilly began her apprenticeship in September 2024, and since then has been passionate about learning more about the organisation and the world of business. This has become a passion for her, as she strives towards her dream of owning her own business, supporting young people with their mental health.
Dilly often says "The summer is the time I thrive!" She often enjoys the summer sun in the Lakes, whether it's swimming, paddleboarding or spa days. In the winter times, Dilly loves watching Blue Planet and planning her next travels... Brazil here she comes!
Kate is the office guru and Business Manager. Constantly diving into each day; supporting staff, trustees and customers alike, all the whilst carrying a bucket load of enthusiasm, dedication and style.
In her down time, her style can sometimes be tested by part-time puppy and part-time menace, Paddy. Despite this, travel is a love of Kate's (when she's not supervising Paddy), having spent 3 years on Australia's Gold Coast.
Lydia, our in-house creative wiz with a flair for design style, always brings a ray of sunshine to the Carlisle office – and not least because her favourite colour is yellow! Always bright and smiling, Lydia works to support the various teams in People First with a range of digital marketing projects. When not at work, Lydia can be found exploring the Scottish landscapes or busy creating fabric masterpieces on her loom. And when it comes to scones, it’s always jam first then cream.
Nicola is a dedicated Bid Writing Manager with a true passion for making a lasting difference, always leading with empathy and care for others. She views her role as one focused on creating growth and development, thriving on the variety it brings. Whether working across all areas of People First or identifying the organisation’s needs and co-creating solutions, Nicola is committed to driving positive change.
At home, Nicola has two energetic Jack-a-poos who keep her busy with their playful antics. She’s also a devoted Manchester United fan, often spending her weekends taking her nephews to matches and sharing her love for the game.
Mathematician, and future bake off contestant, Olivia joined People First in 2024 as our Finance Apprentice. Since starting her apprenticeship she's thrived on the challenges and delved deep into collaboration and learning the in's and out's of finance. Olivia loves Excel and doing forms and formulas... theres something magical about =SUM.
When she's not trying to get sponsored by Microsoft, she can be often found in the kitchen, sharpening her skills for baking. Whether it's her signature dish of lemon meringue pie or something new, she knows how to get the tastebuds zinging. We can certainly see GBBO in her future. IYKYK.
The Training Queen at People First, it's no wonder Rachael began her career as a Primary School Teacher; she loves learning, and sharing knowledge with others. Whether it's fun quirky facts no-one else knows to vital education for staff and customers to keep everyone who works with People First safe and well.
Rachael is a secret (not so secret anymore) crafter. From sewing, diamond art... even mandala rock painting! Who knows what hobby she'll learn next...
Our data queen; Rebecca's focus at People First has been to streamline processes and ultimately making complicated spreadsheets less complicated. (She pretty much a magician!) She describes herself as sarcastic, kind and analytical, she is always ready to lend a hand with a warm smile.
A mum of two, she's usually found at a a soft play or in parks... trying to stop her sons hurling themselves in to giant puddles. It's just an average day for Rebecca. Friendly, food-loving and always on the go, Rebecca somehow manages to keep everything running smoothly despite her complete lack of spare time.
Sarah is a constant ray of sunshine on a gloomy day (often the case with classic cumbrian weather). Her easy going personality and atmosphere of fun she brings with her has made her the official office cheerleader.

In another life, Isla spent her days as a racehorse groom and rider for over 10 years. Fast forward to today, she is an Independent Living Coordinator at People First. Working in a supportive team, unified and driven towards the same goal of helping every Direct Payments customer that comes through the door.
Isla hasn't left her animals roots completely however, spending down time either paddle boarding with her rescue dog or even taking on dog agility competitions.
Baking extraordinaire off the clock, dedicated Payroll Officer on the clock, Kinga joined People First is 2023. Working alongside her fellow Payroll team, Kinga is always on hand to support clients when they have queries with their Personal Health Budgets or Managed Accounts. Despite her love of working under pressure, there's still nothing quite like the perfect recipe of going to the beach mixed with reading a good book.

Hope, our Receptionist Job Coach, is always ready to say 'hi' when you come and visit the People First Conference Centre. Creative, adaptable and always welcoming, Hope always loves being able to help others, making sure they feel welcomed and ensuring they have a fantastic time at the Conference Centre.
In her spare time, she enjoys deep-cleaning, cooking and doing some DIY. She also loves to work with her husband on creating magical music- she's the singer, and her Mr is the beats producer. Is The Voice in her future? We'd vote for her!
Iain is the Partnerships Manager at People First, and h truly loves life. Passionate about helping people achieve their goals, he see's his role as one of creating career opportunities for others.
Outside of work, Iain is a potter, enjoying the craft alongside his partner, known to create incredible one off pieces. He loves the unpredictability and challenge that the potters wheel brings. Between work and his pottery, Iain is kept on his toes by his two dogs who certainly truly the roost at home. With a post and driven attitude , he's always looking for ways to make a difference.
Jenny is a creative, pragmatic, and wonderfully eclectic person, known for her quick wit and supportive nature. As a Best Life Assessor, she feels it’s a true privilege to work with each learner and be a small part of their journey, helping them shape their world in meaningful ways.
When she’s not at work, Jenny can be found twisting herself into pretzel-like shapes during yoga, channeling her inner zen with tai chi, or attempting to stay balanced in Pilates (sometimes with mixed results, but always with a smile). She brings that same flexibility and balance into her work, even if she’s more graceful on the mat than off!
Also known as the King of the Conference Centre, Luke has worked within the hospitality industry since the age of 16. The magic of his role can be found in the unpredictability of each day and the love of bringing the best out of his team, both aspects drive Luke.
Maria is an outgoing, glass-half-full person and a dedicated Hospitality Job Coach. She thrives on the rewards of her role, especially the one-on-one connections she builds with learners. Watching them develop new skills and witnessing their pride as they achieve new challenges is what truly drives her passion.

When you come to the People First Conference Centre, you'll certainly bump into Paul, whether he's picking apples, working with volunteers and learners to do some building maintenance, or doing morning drop offs of food up to the cafe. With his years of experience in different industries, we can always rely on Paul to know the answer!
I am a Chef in Riverbank Kitchen. I prepare homemade fresh produce for the cafe in the cancer unit at the Cumberland infirmary and riverside cafe at the Conference Centre, we also provide soup and sandwiches for the chemotherapy patients. I also work with learners in the kitchen giving them the help and support and skills they need.
Vic is the Hospitality Team Leader and known for her fun-loving, easygoing nature whilst always getting the job done. She thrives on working with all the learners to provided the best possible service to all our guests, ensuring every experience is top-notch.
What's her favourite part of the day you ask? Checking how many steps she's racked up by the time she's finished! Before People First, Vic used to be a singer of cruise ships, combining her love of music and travel.
Andrew has always been an 'officer'. Previously working as a Police Officer for over 30 years and he has seen first hand the importance of being out in the community, listening and supporting, to ultimately make changes to make communities across Cumbria safer and stronger. Today, as Engagement Officer for Healthwatch Cumberland, Andrew thrives on the variation each day brings as well as the knowledge that each interaction brings Cumberland closer to delivering better services for all.
A keen traveller, Andrew is often drawn to the sandy beaches of the mediterranean (not that we can judge him for this). For him, seeing, immersing and experiencing the world and all it has to offer is an integral part of his being.
Caitlin is a Psychology graduate, who has always been drive to make a difference no matter how big or small, and in whatever way she can. Using her university experience, Caitlin works tirelessly crafting each report Healthwatch Cumberland produces using the invaluable information and experiences from her team of Engagement Officers. Caitlin loves the variability of each report she writes, being able to research into the different themes and always learn about something new within the health and social care system.
Caitlin loves walking with her A.D.O.R.ABLE sausage dog, Dexter, in the Lake District or popping along to her local gym (don't worry Dexter stays home on these occasions to catch up on some much needed sleep)!
Chloe, also known as the lady in pink is Healthwatch Cumberlands Engagement Team Leader. Her understanding of connection, relationship and community, and the power these elements have together has been a constant drive for Chloe.
Working previously in recovery services, Chloe wholeheartedly believes that there is always hope and recovery is always possible, but it must be a group effort. Whether she is out on the streets, speaking to members of the local community, or engaging with system works, Chloe is always listening, and advocating for those in Cumberland who feel unheard.
Michelle is the queen of problem-solving and organisation—skills that make her the perfect fit as a Volunteering Co-Ordinator. She thrives on meeting new people from all walks of life, eager to share the stories of our incredible volunteers and celebrate the positive impact they make. With over 15 years of experience working with young people and delivering personal development courses, Michelle brings a wealth of knowledge and passion to her role, always inspiring others to get involved and make a difference.
Outside of work, Michelle enjoys going on theatre trips, immersing herself in the magic of live performances, and taking relaxing dog walks—both of which help her unwind and recharge.
With 23 years of experience working in the NHS, this experience has rooted within her the importance of communities she lives and works in, to have the health and care services that serve that community. Today, as Healthwatch Cumberland Manager, Sally uses her experience to drive forward change across Cumberland directed by the communities who are sharing their experiences.

Tea-liker, cat lover and textiles extraordinaire. Suzannah joined Healthwatch Cumberland in June 2024. Her creative, enthusiastic and inquisitive nature makes Suzannah perfect in speaking to members of the public about their experiences and promoting the valuable work that Healthwatch do each day.
Whilst juggling the wonderful world of comms, Suzannah is also working on her Textiles degree with the Open University. The team love hearing about her latest woven creations using the most un-expecting objects!
Anne is deeply committed to transforming maternity and neonatal care for the better. With a strong belief in the power of listening and advocacy, she sees her role as a vital bridge between service users and the care improvements that make a lasting difference. Driven by a passion to ensure that every voice—especially from underrepresented parts of the community—is heard, Anne is dedicated to fostering a more inclusive and compassionate healthcare experience.
She finds great fulfilment in seeing how the changes she and her team have championed improve the lives of families. Outside of her impactful work, Anne’s curiosity extends to a diverse range of hobbies, from nurturing bees to shaping ceramics, each reflecting her love of craftsmanship and nature.
Asiya is our caring and dedicated Maternity and Neonatal Voices Partnership Lead. Describing herself as chatty, loving, strong, adaptable, and understanding, she’s committed to making a positive impact on local maternity and neonatal services. She finds real meaning in knowing her work helps shape better outcomes for families in the community.
Outside of her important role, she loves spending quality time with her own family, whether that’s relaxing at home, gardening, or heading out on new adventures exploring the outdoors.
Caroline has worked with the public throughout her career, beginning first as a Police Officer, then as a midwife. She understands from her own experience of working within maternity and neonatal care how important it is that all patients get the very best care, and the answers when this care is not provided. Caroline understands the privilege she is in and the vulnerability of individuals coming to her to share their experiences of care.
When she's not at work, she is most likely doing her other 'job' of mum taxi for her four children. In between these two very important roles for Caroline, she busy's her time with renovating her farmhouse.
Let's introduce the bubbly, enthusiastic and hardworking Cora Dixon. Cora has been an asset from day one to the Healthwatch Lancashire team; especially when it comes to building their brand presence within the community. Since graduating from university, she entered into the world of comms, specialising in digital marketing and social media.
Cora is well-known in Lancashire exploring new food restaurants that enter onto the scene and sharing the delights on her instagram account @lancashirefoodspots. Check her out!
Dawn joined Healthwatch back in 2022. From day one she has taken the lead in growing our amazing community of volunteers. From learning new skills, making new friends and being able to give something back to your community; these qualities are not only what Dawn loved about this opportunity with Healthwatch Lancashire, but to also share awareness of the benefits of volunteering for your local Healthwatch.
Emmy has always been driven to support the public. In her previous roles including being Deputy Manager at SENCo, she understands the importance of building relationships with people from all walks of life. In Emmy's own words; "The knowledge of making a positive impact is what it's all about" captures her passion perfectly.
A proud Prestonian, Jodie joined the team in 2022 as our Engagement Team Leader before becoming out Healthwatch Lancashire Manager. Having previously worked as Police Officer, Jodie is all about working with the public for the public.
When she's hung up the uniform at the end of the day, you'll either find her with Daniel, the daring sausage dog, or planning her next adventure.
Kerry is the passionate and dynamic Head of Healthwatch, who brings collaboration, creativity, and compassion into every interaction. With over 10 years of experience in care management and supporting people with disabilities in the charitable sector, she has always been deeply connected to the health and social care world. Being a voice for her local community and helping shape meaningful, lasting change is incredibly important to her, though she acknowledges the great responsibility that comes with it.
Outside of work, she loves spending time with her husband and four children, making memories and having fun together.
Lewis is our enthusiastic Research and Data Team Leader, bringing a friendly and approachable vibe to the team. With a background as a former history lecturer, he's not strangers to diving deep into fascinating topics and making complex information accessible (and enjoyable!). His passion for research goes hand-in-hand with his love for connecting with people and working on projects that aim to make a positive impact.
Outside of the office, you'll often find him on the field-literally. A sports lover through and through, he not only stays active but gives back by coaching junior football and athletics. Whether he's guiding a research project or a football team, Lewis' energy and commitment is contagious.
Having working for a period of time as a Nurse, Louise developed a passion for healthcare for both those who receive care and those who deliver it. Being able to use her experience as a nurse to help guide her as an Engagement Officer at Healthwatch Lancashire has allowed Louise to dive deeper into the mission throughout Lancashire, listening to experiences shared of local services and advocating for change to be created.
Helpful, humorous and honest are just three fantastic words to describe Steve. It's understandable to see why Steve begins each day with enthusiasm; whether it's speaking to the public, colleagues or health and social care leaders.
An advocate for the importance of learning new skills, Steve is currently working towards his Black Belt in Karate. We're looking forward to him sharing some Karate tricks at our next Operations day!
Susan loves being out in the amazing communities across Lancashire in her role as Senior Engagement Officer. Speaking to the public, listening and understanding their experiences, but most of all being able to champion their views to make systematic change to health and social care services across the length and breadth of Lancashire. She says; "Knowing that what we do actually makes a real difference fuels me each day to keep doing what Healthwatch is here to do."
Working 25 years as a Garden Designer, it's no wonder that Susan loves being in the great outdoors. Whether it's enjoying her own garden, embracing the natural, rugged terrain of rural Lancashire or even hugging a tree or two.
Tessa is our friendly and passionate Maternity and Neonatal Voices Partnership Lead. She's enthusiastic about all things maternity and loves how her role allows her to provide connection, support, and feedback. One of her favourite parts of the job is talking to a wide range of people, hearing their experiences, and helping them find the local services that can best offer support.
When she's not at work, she often enjoys spending time with her family and practicing yoga to unwind and stay balanced.
Kathryn is our Communications and Administration Co-Ordinator who describes her job as simply awesome! She thrives on the variety of the role, from keeping the office running smoothly for her team to engaging with the public—she loves every bit of it.
Outside of work, she’s an outdoor enthusiast. Whether it’s camping and walking in the North Yorkshire Moors, running, gardening, or traveling, she’s happiest under the open sky. And when she’s not exploring nature, you’ll find her indulging in her love for all things horror films.
Happy, team player and a person of the people, Lynn is Healthwatch Stockton-on-Tees Engagement Officer. The highlight for Lynn being able to adapt her work depending on the different challenges of peoples health and wellbeing situations. She understands the importance of making sure they a signposted to the right organisations so they are not been passed from one place to another and then give up.
In a previous life, Lynn was an Office Junior, and loves reflecting back on how big and bulky technology like phones and computers were as well as how she could achieve 20,000 steps a day. If that's not a skill, we don't know what is.
Kate, I the Manager of Healthwatch Westmorland and Furness, where she is dedicated to supporting her team in their mission to improve health and social care services. With a passion for empowering others, she ensures her team has the tools and guidance they need to succeed.
What Kate looks forward to most in her role is making a real difference in the community, helping to amplify the voices of those who need it most. In her free time, she enjoys volunteering for local causes that are close to her hears and brings the same sense of care and commitment to everything she does.
Laura has a passion for writing, climbing, animals, and spending time with her family. As a Research and Data Officer, she thrives on diving deep into a subject, analysing the details, and uncovering insights that shape understanding.

Having previously worked as a Junior Doctor, Leila brings a unique, firsthand understanding of healthcare from both sides of the system. Outside of work, Leila embraces life’s natural beauty—whether it’s swimming in wild waters, come rain or shine, or capturing her thoughts in poetry. Leila’s passion for both reflection and action shines through in everything she does.
Lisa thrives on the fact that no two days are the same at Healthwatch Westmorland and Furness. One day she may be out in the community, meeting people and hearing their experiences. Day two Lisa may meeting with people who work and shape local health and social care services, sharing the views of people, and the experience they have gone through.
Lisa used to work in the education system for fourteen years and over that time supported autistic adults and adults with a learning disability. She saw first-hand the impact positive experiences and the right support can provide for everyone but especially for those in seldom heard groups.
Lisa shared; "I find it so satisfying when we make an impact on the health and care system in our area."
Carmen is a woman of many talents and passions. Beginning her career as a Physiotherapist, Carmen transitioned into a Special Needs Learning Support Worker before becoming a Psychotherapist. Throughout her career, Carmen, has always been passionate about supporting those in our community who are vulnerable.
Outside of work, Carmen is a keen runner, cook and wild camper... sometimes all at once!
Headstrong, principled, neurodiverse, and proudly so, Cat transforms her lived experiences into powerful impact. As an Expert by Experience, Cat uses her personal journey to create meaningful change. She deeply understands the challenges of navigating a neurotypical world and, through her work, strives to ease that burden—hoping the next generation will face fewer obstacles than she did.
When she’s not making a difference, Cat enjoys spending time with her family, cooking up new dishes, playing video games, and getting lost in a good book. Her passion for life is as vibrant as her work.
Chris is a calm, genuine, and passionate advocate for the importance of inclusion. He brings a fresh and positive energy to everything he does, finding his role both rewarding and fun. Immersed in the community, Chris is especially excited about working with youth and self-advocacy groups, knowing how much these spaces mean to their members. His favourite part of the job is seeing people empowered and making their voices heard.
In his free time, Chris enjoys a mix of fun and exploration. He loves gaming, going on long walks, and traveling to new places, always up for discovering something new. Whether he’s immersed in a virtual world or off on a real-world adventure, Chris approaches everything with enthusiasm and a sense of curiosity.
James is a people person through and through. Since day one at People First, James instantly is able to connect with those around him, especially to members within the Lancashire self advocacy groups who he works closely alongside. For James, the groups aren't just a meeting space, but a community that gather together, support one another, and empower one another no matter what members are facing in their day to day life.
James is a man who never stops moving. Whether that's going for a walk with friends or listening to some bangin' hits whilst out on one of his weekly runs. We wonder what's on his playlist this week?
Linda understands the importance of providing the right support to people with a learning disability and autistic people, having several people close to her with additional needs.
Her work as a Sessional CTR (Care and Treatment Review) Advisor focuses on people with a learning disability and or autistic, who may also have a mental health condition are safe whilst experiencing care.
Lucy is the Inclusion Team Administrator at People First and always brings a breath of fresh air to her team. Her role covers a little bit of everything, all aimed at creating a more inclusive environment and workforce. Known affectionately as the “Easy Read Queen” at People First, Lucy plays a key part in ensuring accessibility and clarity for everyone.
Outside of work, Lucy has a deep love for music, which plays a central role in her life. Whether it’s listening to her favorite artists, discovering new genres, or even experimenting with creating her own tunes, music is her way of unwinding and finding inspiration. It’s something that fuels her creativity and helps her maintain a sense of balance and joy.
When Sam was asked to describe her role in 3 words, she chose 'exciting, fun, fulfilling' and it's no wonder when Sam, her team and the young people of People First youth groups get together. Sam's work has always been about empowering young people to gain confidence, start advocating for themselves and feel safe to not be afraid to show their silly side. Whether it's with a trip to the Metro Centre or a pizza night at the Conference Centre, Sam supports the group to become more confident, comfortable and advocating individuals with skills they can use everyday.
You might not know this but Sam is a lover of all things Pigeons (we cannot confirm or deny that she has a very adorable pigeon calendar next to her desk) so if you fancy quizzing her on it, she's ready and raring to go.
Elaine has been a long-term customer of People First, which provides a unique and invaluable insight on People Firsts Board of Trustees.
Elaine understand better than most the power of receiving the right support. She has seen this first-hand as a carer of someone with a learning disability and holds this as her superpower in guaranteeing that customers of all our services are put at the heart of this organisation throughout.
Mark has always believed that the role of a trustee is a real privilege. Working 31 years as Police Officer and Assistant Chief Constable, Mark has seen first hand the importance of helping others and ultimately making a difference to those within our communities.
When not trusteeing, Mark uses his experiences as part of Adapt & Evolve Consultancy, helping organisations across the UK reduce sickness, improve performance and help staff retention. In his down time, he can often be seen running up the fells in the Eden Valley or brewing his very own Ale.
Before becoming a Trustee at People First, Mike got involved in our work by fundraising alongside his colleagues at Borderway Finance for their Keswick Three Peak challenge. From then onwards, Mike has been inspired and humbled by the work that is carried across all corners of People First and Healthwatch and in-turn, the support provided to people to live their best lives, whatever their circumstances.
Working 26 years in financial services has lead him to becoming Managing Director in 2016. Throughout this time he has always put customers at the heart of every decision.
With a career that spans over 20 years in the health and social care sector, Nicola understands the importance for people to receive the right support then together, people can make miracles happen. Being a solution focused person and humanistic leader, Nicola fosters an environment that empowers and uplifts around her.
Nicola's motto that she carries with her is 'life is for living'. Whether it's work-time or home-time; she carries this through.
