Do you want to make an impact in peoples lives?

We are thrilled to announce a exciting new partnership with DAD (Darlington Association on Disability) and Disability North, fully funded by Skills for Care, to provide fully funded training sessions for Personal Care Assistants and people who employ Personal Care Assistants. 

Our training courses are designed to equip you with the expert skills, knowledge and confidence to provide compassionate and high-quality care to those in need. 

Safeguarding Training

Guidelines and procedures in this course will provide health and social care workers the tools to recognise issues related to the mistreatment and abuse of at-risk adults. This half day course covers: 

  • Group work
  • Looking at case studies
  • Theoretical work
  • Personal Reflections 

This course is available in-person or via Teams

First Aid Training

Students are assessed and if successful issued with an Emergency First Aid at Work Certificate, valid for 3 years. This full day course covers:

  • Roles and responsibilities
  • Incident management
  • Dealing with an unconscious casualty
  • External bleeding
  • CPR and recovery position

This course is available in-person only.

Understanding Autism Training

Exploring how to support a person with autism delivered by experts with lived experience from different perspectives.

This course covers:

  • Understand why autism is described as an invisible condition
  • Reflect on your own values and beliefs
  • Recognise potential differences, strengths and challenges
  • Identify potential triggers for anxiety
  • Identify reasonable adjustments and ways to adapt
  • Be familiar with legislation and resources.

This course is delivered as a hybrid course.

Online learning available

We recognise that there is limited funding and time, for Personal Assistants and employers of someone with a Direct Payment and/or a Personal Health Budget to be able to develop their skills and knowledge.

Together, with the support of Skills for Care, People First has a range of courses that are available to complete online, providing learning in a variety of topics including dementia awareness and personal care.
