Explorers on Track is a full day activity for young people to come together and develop their knowledge, skills and experience of travel on the local rail network.
This session will begin and end at a local community space. Together, we will establish the group and plan for the shared adventure! Through this we will promote independent travel skills such as buying tickets, understanding journey times and destinations, finding the correct platform and seats etc.
Young People will keep all of the resources we use as part of the travel training element. This may include easy-read information, flowcharts and mementos collected throughout the day.
This journey will be to a neighbouring town no more than 20 minutes away, giving enough time for the travellers to have a look around. There is a minimal cost to families to cover the train travel element of the activity.
This activity is suitable for young people aged 14-18 years old with special educational needs and disabilities.
