We are currently recruiting for a Personal Assistant/Support worker to support a 16-year-old girl (in the Wigton area) with Autism, Down Syndrome, who is non-verbal and hard of hearing, the girl wears a hearing aid in each ear to support with this.

We are currently recruiting for a Personal Assistant/Support worker to support a 16-year-old girl (in the Wigton area) with Autism, Down Syndrome, who is non-verbal and hard of hearing, the girl wears a hearing aid in each ear to support with this.

The girl also has a wheelchair to use when going out to places which may require long distance walking.

We are looking for an experienced PA, who has worked with children with Autism and Down Syndrome before and someone has a basic knowledge of Sign Language/Makaton.

The ideal candidate for the role will have patience and the ability to build a relationship and trust with the girl, provide emotional support and promote her independence and motivation.

The girl needs lots of encouragement and assistance with personal care/ personal hygiene tasks and needs encouragement with identifying risks and dangers around her.

The role will involve supporting the girl out in the local community in addition to a variety of keen interests and activities including (but not limited to):

  • Swimming
  • Cinema
  • Bowling
  • Arts and Crafts
  • Puzzle Games

Hours are flexible to suit the needs of the individual. There are 8hrs per week available. Further details of shifts required can be discussed at the next stage of the application.

Candidates must also hold a full driving licence and have access to their own

vehicle.

A DBS is mandatory for this role and will be processed by the employer.
