Support Worker (Child) Workington

We are currently recruiting for 2 Personal Assistants/ Support workers to support a 7 year-old boy from Workington on a 2:1 basis who has a diagnosis of Autism and Global Development Delay, NF1 (neurofibromatosis type 1) and Epilepsy. Although the Epilepsy is well controlled, the ideal candidate must be trained in administering rescue medication.
The boy struggles with communication and requires lots of encouragement and prompting with daily tasks, such as personal care needs. The boy has a tendency to run off when outdoors, therefore has a disability buggy for when outdoors.
The role will involve supporting the boy in his home environment and out in the local community in addition to a variety of keen interests and activities including (but not limited to):
· Eating out in McDonalds
· Exploring the outdoors
· Going to the beach
· Trampolining
The ideal candidate for the role will have patience and the ability to deal with any challenging situations in a calm and respectful manner and be able to build a relationship and trust with the boy.
Experience working with and understanding children living with disabilities is essential for this role.
Candidates must also hold a full driving licence and have access to their own vehicle with adequate business insurance.

There are 4 hours per week available per PA at the rate of £11.44 p/hour during term time
And 8 hours per week available per PA at the rate of £11.44 p/hour during school holidays.
