We are looking for someone who is caring and compassionate to support an 11-year-old girl who has a diagnosis of a severe generalised learning delay. There are 5 hours per week available, we would like to have the support for 3 hours on a Sunday and 2 hours one day during the week (we would like this to be flexible for during the week).

We are looking for someone who is caring and compassionate to support an 11-year-old girl who has a diagnosis of a severe generalised learning delay meaning she works behind mentally, so although she is 11, she doesn’t always have the mental understanding/behaviour as an 11-year-old and sometimes she can revert right back to behaviour of someone who is age 5/6 years old. She is also on the spectrum for Autism, but we haven’t got a full diagnosis of that just yet. It can take her a while to build up trust with new people so the successful applicant must be patient and be prepared to work hard to build this trust.

She is funny, she loves to laugh, she enjoys singing and dancing, swimming, animals, and is Lilo and Stitch obsessed! This young girl would benefit from someone who can help her to enjoy trips out and about and exploring further hobbies.

She can sometimes have accidents as she has a weak bladder, she can manage to get herself changed but sometimes requires prompts to do so, as well as prompts to remind her to go to the toilet. She also has joint hyper mobility syndrome and can tire quite quick. She is coeliac and cannot have food containing gluten or wheat as well as being asthmatic.

The ideal applicant will need understanding of these needs and have some knowledge/training in special needs.

Hours:

Requirements:

Full UK Driving License and access to a car is preferred.

The successful candidate must be willing to complete an enhanced DBS check. Applicants on the update service are an advantage. The cost of processing the DBS will be covered by the employer.
