We are looking to recruit 2 PAs to support for a 33-year-old lady living with her dog and fiancé in the Whitehaven area. The lady has complex medical conditions including Autism, ADHD and Epilepsy.

We are looking to recruit 2 PAs to this role, 1 of the PAs would be on reduced hours per month with the ability to take more hours on to help cover sickness/annual leave. This can be discussed with employer upon application.

This role will be to provide support to 33-year-old lady living with her dog and fiancé in the Whitehaven area. The lady also works a part-time job Monday-Thursday.

The lady has complex medical conditions including autism, ADHD and Epilepsy.

She is seeking someone who is the same gender, is a patient person and likes dogs. She would also prefer that the applicant has a sense of humour and has experience of supporting people with chronic pain, although this is not essential.

Successful applicants must:

· Have a driving licence and can be insured on the lady’s vehicle.

· Have their own car with business insurance.

· Be prepared to have an enhanced DBS check so support can be provided at Rainbows.

· Have training in first aid to include seizures, autism awareness, safeguarding awareness, manual handling. This is not required before starting work but must be completed within the first 12 months of employment.

· 1 reference essential, 2 preferred.

· Be prepared to learn enough about the lady’s conditions to best support her (paid time off for training will be agreed).

· Be prepared to respond to medical emergencies.

· Be prepared to learn on the job and share some of the caring responsibilities of my fiancé.

· Be prepared to learn how to manage their response to challenging behaviour.

· Be prepared to accept swearing in conversation.

· Be prepared to guide or instruct the lady if she becomes confused/distressed or begin to shut down.

· Not smoke whilst working with the lady.

There are 20 hours per week available (flexibility can be negotiated, and weekly rotas can be used to assist this) and shift patterns are as follows:

· Morning shifts Monday-Thursday to assist with preparing to start work. My contracted start time is 9am. Support can be flexible, ideal support hours 7:30am – 9:30am (8hrs a week)

· Tuesday - flexible after 4pm. (2 hours) Help with shower/bath and dressing

· Wednesday - fixed 4:30pm–7:30pm (3hrs a week) during term time to assist the person to volunteer with her local Rainbows group. Outside of term time can be flexible.

· Thursday - fixed 3:45 – 7pm. (3 hrs 15 mins a week) to provide support to attend a weekly Pilates class.

· Friday - flexible between 10am – 5pm (3 hours 45 mins).

Tasks required to support the lady include:

· Support with showering/bath.

· Support getting dressed.

· Promoting to take medication, eating, drinking, going to the toilet.

· Driving to appointments, social activities and work.

· Support to volunteer at Rainbows. Not expected to help with the activities or the girls unless it’s to directly help me complete tasks.

· Drive to exercise classes and support at the beginning and the end of the class.

· Support to make meals.

· Supporting me basic household chores.

· Keeping the lady company.

· Keeping the lady safe during a seizure.

· Keep the lady safe during an asthma attack.

· Administer reliever inhaler if the lady stops breathing during a seizure if her fiancé is not available to help.

Job Types: Part-time, Permanent, Zero hours contract

Pay: £23.48 per hour
