Personal Assistant Needed – Support for Young Person with Dual Sensory Impairment
Location: CA12 Keswick area.
Hours: Part-time/Flexible
Pay: Dependent upon experience
We are seeking a compassionate, reliable, discreet and proactive Personal Assistant to support a 26 year old young man who leads an active adventurous lifestyle, an engaging young person with dual sensory loss (hearing and vision impairments plus poor working memory.). This role is about empowering independence, building trust, and supporting daily routines and communication. He enjoys being outdoors, including canoeing, kayaking, hiking, indoor wall climbing, recumbent cycling and is keen to explore running with a running guide.
This role is about providing practical support and confident companionship enabling him to continue doing what he loves safely and fully, he robustly values his independence.
Duties may include:
- Facilitating good communication skills for someone who is a cochlear implant user (e.g., clear speech, assistive tech)
- Assisting with mobility and orientation in familiar and unfamiliar environments.
- Encouraging autonomy and social engagement.
- Supporting outdoor and recreational activities, journey planning using public transport.
Ideal Candidate:
✅ Patient, calm, adaptable and outdoorsy.
✅ Experience (or willingness to train) in working with sensory impairments.
✅ A good communicator and active listener.
✅ Reliable, punctual, and discreet.
✅ Holds a valid driver’s license but not essential.

No formal experience is necessary - just a positive attitude and a willingness to learn.
