What You’ll Be Doing
As a Citizen Connector, you’ll be a trusted friend to those in our community who need connection and support. Your role will help individuals feel heard, respected, and empowered. Here’s how you’ll contribute:
Build Friendships
- Create Long-Term Connections: Develop a positive, one-on-one relationship with a community member, becoming a consistent presence in their life.
- Share Interests: Enjoy mutual hobbies and activities, strengthening your connection and creating joyful experiences together.
Building Trust
- Regular Visits: Stay in touch regularly, with visits or contacts every month.
- Understand and Support: Get to know their values, wishes, and preferences, supporting their choices without influencing them.
- Highlight any concerns
- Writing Up Notes: Document visits thoroughly to ensure accurate records.
Empower and Inform
- Provide Information: Help them navigate services by providing information and signposting to appropriate resources.
- Promote Independence: Encourage them to speak up for themselves and make their own decisions, fostering empowerment and self-reliance.
