Tea Dance for Dementia

The 19th to the 25th of May was Dementia Awareness Week in the UK. As part of this week-long campaign, we attended multiple groups and events that focused on showing support for those with Dementia.

One of these events was a Tea Dance with Chorley Dementia Action Group, where people could have a catch-up with a brew and even take to the dance floor🕺

Chorley Dementia Action Group strive to create an inclusive community where people affected by dementia can thrive through education, support, and advocacy.

In April, you told us...

Last month, we engaged with 503 people across Lancashire who told us the most about GP services (41% of feedback) and pharmacies (15% of feedback).

"I cant recommend here enough. The care, the empathy and availability of the doctors really can't be faulted. Everything here is more than we could ask for, from the receptionists who are always so lovely and accommodating to the prescription team, who go above and beyond, to the brilliant medical team. We had a terrible experience with our old doctors and since joining Parkgate we genuinely couldn’t ask for more.. Thanks to everyone here... definitely a job well done by everyone." - Parkgate surgery, Ormskirk

Enter and View: Wesham Rehabilitation Centre

Healthwatch Lancashire Enter and View Representatives made an announced visit to Wesham Rehabilitation Centre and spoke with 6 patients, 5 staff members, and 1 volunteer who provided feedback on the organisation.

Overall, we found that staff and patients both shared a positive outlook on the care provided at Wesham Rehabilitation Centre, with one patient explaining: “I don’t want to butter the place u,p but I can’t think of one bad thing, I’d just be lying”

Wesham Rehabilitation Centre provides both clinical and non-clinical support, enabling patients to transition from intensive mental health support to being able to live independently. The centre has a capacity for 24 patients, with each patient having their own bedroom with an en-suite bathroom.

Our Virtual Wards Report is Now Live!

As part of an ongoing project, we have been investigating virtual wards and their functionality for people across Lancashire.

A Virtual Ward or Hospital at Home allows people to receive care at home instead of being in the hospital. They are used for acute conditions or exacerbations of chronic conditions, either as an alternative to hospital admission or to facilitate earlier discharge from the hospital.

Our report details our key findings, barriers and inequalities and recommendations for the future.

Maternity: Personalised Care and Support Planning (PCSP)

We are currently supporting the Lancashire and South Cumbria Integrated Care Board by promoting a Personalised Care and Support Planning survey based on maternity experiences in Lancashire.

This survey will allow hospital trusts like Lancashire (including East), Blackpool and Morecambe Bay to understand the views of women across Lancashire and make vital changes to care and support to improve their maternity experience.
