Spreading a little kindness with The Cumberland

For the first time, People First are working alongside The Cumberland to celebrate World Kindness Day.

World Kindness Day is an international observance on Sunday 13th November. On this day, participants attempt to make the world a better place by celebrating and promoting good deeds and pledging acts of kindness, either as individuals or organisations.

To celebrate World Kindness Day, The Cumberland are generously covering the cost for us to hand out 200 ‘Free Hot Drinks’ Vouchers on Monday 14th November to NHS Staff. These vouchers can then be redeemed at the People First Café for a free hot drink of their choice, to thank them for their hard work and dedication. Our Random Act of Kindness to recognise World Kindness Day.

Phillip Ward, Brand Manager at The Cumberland, commented:

“Saying thank you is the simplest and easiest way to show appreciation for someone’s kindness. Being able to do this at the same time as providing the People First team with an opportunity to develop their skills is a great initiative and we’re honoured to be asked to support it.”

Last year, People First launched a new and unique café based in the heart of Carlisle’s new Northern Centre for Cancer Care.

Serving locally sourced food and drink, the People First Café is run by local people with learning difficulties and provides a safe space to learn skills and access meaningful opportunities.

Natalie Bingham, Fundraising Officer at People First, said:

“This is the first time People First have been involved with World Kindness Day and we are absolutely thrilled that The Cumberland have chosen to sponsor our campaign.

Not only will this help spread a little joy, but it will also provide some of our learners in the Café with the opportunity to learn new skills. This really wouldn’t be possible without the support from The Cumberland, and we really cannot thank them enough.

We look forward to working alongside the team on the day.”
