Young People First – fun, confidence, and new skills!

We’re here to make youth work exciting, empowering, and inclusive. Our team runs activities that help young people aged 10-25 with a learning difficulty and/or who are autistic build resilience, speak up for themselves, and grow in confidence, all while having a great time!

Youth Groups

We host an inclusive youth group every Monday 5pm - 7pm (excluding bank holidays) at the People First Conference Centre for young people aged 15 - 25 with a learning disability or autistic people.

We cover a variety of topics at our sessions and invite guest speakers to join us. Our programme offers 4 different styles of sessions:

  • Relaxed sessions
  • Speak-Up sessions
  • Focused sessions
  • Community sessions

Short Break Activities

Every young person with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) deserves the chance to explore, play, and discover new experiences. Our Short Break Activities are designed to spark joy, build confidence, and create lasting memories.

Sessions run in Workington, Whitehaven, Maryport and Carlisle for young people aged 14 - 18 years old with mild to moderate communication needs.
