Working together for a greater impact!

We believe collaboration creates stronger communities. That’s why People First are working with Every Life Matters, combining our expertise, resources, and passion to deliver meaningful change. Through this partnership, we’re amplifying our impact and creating lasting social value.

By working side by side, we can reach more people, share knowledge, and maximize every opportunity to build a fairer, brighter future for everyone.

Shining a Light on Every Life Matters

Every Life Matters was founded in 2019 by people who knew Cumbria needed a stronger, more sustained response to suicide. Bringing together those with lived experience of loss or suicidal thoughts, alongside professionals from the suicide prevention field, they set out to create something bold, innovative and lasting.

In a county with some of the highest suicide rates in England, Every Life Matters is making sure the issue never slips from view. Their work combines compassion with evidence, offering vital support for those bereaved by suicide and driving forward prevention initiatives at scale.

What makes Every Life Matters stand out is their determination to challenge stigma, keep conversations open, and bring hope to communities across Cumbria. They are not just responding to a crisis, they are changing the future.

Laps For Every Life

In May People First and Every Life Matters collaborated on their first event together. Laps for Every Life was a community event with a powerful purpose. Together, we aimed to complete a combined 133 laps around Talkin Tarn Country Park, by either walking, jogging, or running, to honour the 133 lives lost to suicide in Cumberland between 2021 and 2023.

Our lap tally finished at 247 laps ( a whopping 321.1 miles) Every lap is an act of remembrance, a step towards breaking stigma, and a show of support for those affected by suicide.

Whether you took on one lap or many, your presence helps to raise awareness, share hope, and remind us all that every lap matters, every life matters.

Coming Together for Suicide Awareness Week: Our Chat & Talk Event

On Suicide Prevention Day, we gathered as a community for our Chat & Talk event. An open, supportive space where people could connect, share experiences, and access valuable resources.

The aim was simple but powerful: to remind one another that we are not alone. Too often, conversations around suicide and mental health are left unspoken. By creating a safe environment to talk and listen, we took another step toward breaking down stigma and building stronger connections.

A thought provoking session was led by Claire and Jess from Every Life Matters Alongside open conversations, we shared information about services and resources available for anyone in need, ensuring that support doesn’t end when the event does.

Community means looking out for each other, and Suicide Awareness Week and Suicide Prevention Day are vital reminders of the importance of compassion, understanding, and shared strength.
