Parents of a non-verbal 5-year-old boy with autism and global development delay looking for flexible support from a Personal Assistant. Over 18s only as personal care is required.

My son is non-verbal with autism and global development delay. He requires consistent 1:1 support from a PA who understands autism, sensory regulation, non-verbal communication and routines.

He will need support with personal care, feeding and homework.

He has limited awareness of danger and requires close supervision at all times to ensure his safety. Consistency is essential to support his emotional regulation and wellbeing.

He enjoys music, playgrounds, soft play, walks, sports and arts and crafts. The PA will be expected to actively support him during activities through sensory regulation, use of routines and objects of reference, managing transitions, and interpreting non-verbal communication. Activities are to be short, structured and adapted to his needs, with safety and emotional regulation prioritised at all times.

He uses gestures, behaviours, objects of reference and adult interpretation to communicate wants and needs. He is also beginning to use Makaton so an understand of Makaton is preferred but is not essential.

Flexible support required including weekdays, weekends and school holidays. Times to be agreed based on my son’s needs, routines and family commitments.

A PA with a Driving Licence and access to their own vehicle is preferred but not essential.
