Personal Assistant (Adult) Carlisle ILC-C-157
He lives with a degenerative condition and receives care calls throughout the day to assist with personal care and health needs. This role is centred around providing companionship and additional support at other times, helping him enjoy his day while also giving his wife some valuable respite and time to leave the house.
Due to his condition, he doesn’t get out as much as he used to. However, if the opportunity arises, you would be expected to support him on outings and help him do so safely and comfortably.
Your role would include:
-
Providing friendly companionship and conversation
-
Ensuring food and drinks are available and supporting him to have these
-
Offering reassurance and general support around the home
-
Supporting with occasional outings if appropriate
There are 8 hours available per week. The family would prefer these hours to be built up over a few weeks and then used as a block over a weekend. There are no overnight requirements. Some flexibility is available for the right candidate, and specific timings can be discussed during the recruitment process.
An enhanced DBS check is required for this role. Applicants registered with the Update Service would be an advantage; however, a full DBS can be arranged by the employer if needed.
If you’re someone who is patient, dependable and enjoys making a real difference to someone’s quality of life, this could be a lovely and rewarding opportunity.
