About the Role

We are looking for an understanding, kind, patient and reliable Personal Assistant to support a rising 8-year-old girl with severe learning difficulties and additional needs in Carlisle. The child you will be supporting can be challenging at times, therefore it is important you can stay calm under pressure and lead by example.

This is a rewarding opportunity for someone with experience in childcare, especially supporting children with disabilities, to make a meaningful difference in a child’s life through play, care, and daily activities.

Key Duties

  • Providing personal care and feeding support
  • Offering emotional and behavioural support
  • Engaging in a range of activities the child enjoys, such as:
  • Painting, drawing, and colouring
  • Soft play and trampolining
  • Walks in nature, visits to farms and rivers
  • Swimming and gymnastics
  • Spending time with animals

Hours of work:

The support will mostly be needed on evenings after school, and during the school holidays. There are an average of 2hrs per week available during term time and 4hrs per week in school holidays. Further details of days and times can be discussed during the interview process.

Requirements

  • DBS Check (funded by the employer)
  • Valid driving licence
  • Previous experience working with children with disabilities
  • Be able to provide references
