Support Worker Needed – Carlisle Area

We are looking for a kind, confident and experienced support worker to work directly with an 8-year-old boy in the Carlisle area. He is autistic, has Global Development Delay, is non-verbal and has high support needs. Experience supporting children with similar needs is essential. He is also currently undergoing an assessment for ADHD.

This lovely young boy is happiest outdoors—he enjoys nature walks, parks, woodland trails and trips to the playground. He also loves bus rides, car journeys, sensory rooms, soft play and quiet sessions at Fusion. He is gentle, sweet-natured and full of energy. Crowded or noisy environments can be overwhelming for him, so we’re looking for someone who can create calm, positive outings and activities suited to his needs.

He uses a wheelchair when out in the community. Up-to-date Moving & Handling training is desirable, but training can be arranged for the right person.

Hours & Availability

  • 6 hours per week
  • Flexible days and times (to be agreed with the family during the next stage)

Requirements

  • Full driving licence and business insurance
  • Willingness to complete an Enhanced DBS check (fully funded by the employer)
  • A DBS already registered on the update service is an advantage
