The family of a happy and active 13-year-old-boy who is non-verbal, are looking for a patient and caring personal assistant to support him. He is generally good at following instructions although is non-verbal, and his social skills are limited.

The successful candidate will be expected to take the child for walks in the park/nature reserves, visits to the cinema, trampoline park, soft play venues and going somewhere to eat.

The hours of work will be a couple of Saturdays or Sundays per month with additional hours available during school holidays. Shift times will be 4-6 hours.

The ideal applicant will need to have the confidence and capability to handle this young boy if he was to run off or have a refusal episode, although these are extremely rare.

Requirements:

  • Full UK Driving licence and access to own car preferred but not essential for someone fit and active.
  • Experience looking after children with additional needs preferred, but not essential for the right person.
  • An enhanced DBS check is required for this role, applicants on the Update Service are an advantage.
