We are recruiting a support worker for an 11-year-old boy with Autism.
He has reasonable verbal ability (can communicate his needs), is physically able and independent with a cheeky, playful, and friendly personality.
He likes numbers/counting games, letter games/puzzles, being read to (stories of his choice), outdoor play (swings, slides).
He requires 1:1 assistance/supervision to ensure his safety and enhance his enjoyment of playtime/educational activities. The successful candidate will be expected to support with the above activities and occasionally supervise outdoor activities.
The ideal candidate will have experience of children with Autism, be patient, caring, reliable, trustworthy, and reasonably fit (to keep up!). Establishing a good connection with the family is vital to the success of this position.
The days/times of shifts can be flexible, with an average of 4hrs p/week available in term time and an average of 10hrs p/week available in school holidays.
During term times the shifts would mainly be on weekends and during school holidays the shifts would mainly be on weekdays. Further details of shifts required will be discussed at the next stage of the application process.
The successful candidate must be willing to complete an Enhanced DBS check (fully funded by the Employer). Applicants who have a current DBS on the update service would be an advantage.
Requirements:
Ideally experience of dealing with autistic children - ideally able to drive and own car - personality and connection with mother and child would be deciding factors in selection process.
