Healthwatch Westmorland and Furness works to improve health and social care for people across our communities. Our vacancies:

Sessional worker

Casual (zero hours) · £14.24/hr · 6% employer pension · Cumbria

We're looking for people with curiosity, empathy, and a genuine interest in local health and social care. Someone who loves getting out and about talking with people and hearing their stories. If that's you, we'd love to have you on board.

The role

You'll support our engagement team on projects across the region. No two days are the same. Depending on need, you might be:

  • Facilitating focus groups (in-person and online).
  • Gathering personal stories and case studies.
  • Attending health and wellbeing fairs and local events.
  • Supporting Enter and View visits to NHS services and care homes.
  • Helping with surveys, reports, and project admin.
  • Logging your activity promptly and accurately.
  • Working alongside volunteers and the wider team.

Who we’re looking for

We care more about who you are than what qualifications you hold. You’ll be a good fit if you’re:

  • Based in Cumbria (Cumberland and Westmorland and Furness).
  • A great listener: comfortable hearing people’s experiences.
  • Reliable, organised, and happy working independently.
  • Interested in health, social care, and community.
  • Confident communicating with a wide range of people.
  • Comfortable with MS Office (mainly Word and Excel).
  • Able to maintain neutrality, confidentiality and handle sensitive information with care.

A full driving licence and access to a vehicle with business use insurance is needed for some projects. Mileage and expenses are reimbursed.
