Galleries at The People First Conference Centre

Cumbrian artists are now exhibiting their work within The People First Conference Centre on Milbourne Street, Carlisle. The artwork adds to our philosophy of being the people’s conference centre and allows all people from all kinds of life to enjoy professional artwork.

The first of our artists is Kevin Nutter:

Kevin was born in 1956 in Workington.

He started drawing at the age of three. Started selling paintings at 11 years old, and won his first mural and interior design contracts at the age of 14.

He studied at Carlisle College of Art & Design, and trained further as a graphic designer. He worked on hundreds of large and international advertising campaigns during the seventies. If you were alive then you will have seen Kevin’s work.

Although he followed work into civil engineering, construction, archaeology, and crime scene investigation, he has continued to be a professional artist/designer all his working life.

He became a self employed full time professional in 1997.

Kevin is a working artist. He has only ever worked on commissioned pieces and designs. It is a rare to see a collection of his work exhibited together outside private ownership.

He works in all mediums, subject matters, and styles; He understands that the commissioned piece dictates the style. He has numerous celebrity portrait commissions for and of, Sir Alan Ayckbourn, Clint Eastwood, Johnny Depp, John Wayne, Steve Ballesteros, Bjorn Borg, Damon Hill, Ayrton Senna, Matt Busby, Ray Mears and many more

His works are included in some of the largest private collections in the UK. With works recently hung alongside David Hockney, and valuations by Bonhams of London .

If he has a specialty it is the creation of large murals a skill he has honed since his early teens, the largest to date being 164m wide.

He currently owns “Daffodil Lane Studio & Gallery” in Carlisle with partner Dot.

He has run his own weekly painting and drawing classes for over 25 years, and enjoys holding workshop days or weeks, with a very relaxed and fun atmosphere.

We will be holding open days where members of the public are welcome to come and view Kevin’s work which are focused around independence, voice and empowerment; along with other Artists work now being displayed. If you are interested in a private viewing of Kevin’s artwork, please call 03003034077

The People First Conference Centre will be holding open days later this year to enjoy this incredible art work.
