People across South Cumbria and North Lancashire are being encouraged to share their views and experiences of Kendal Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC) before a public survey closes on Sunday 13 September 2026.
NHS Lancashire and South Cumbria Integrated Care Board (ICB) is working with University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust (UHMBT) and North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) to review the Urgent Treatment Centre at Westmorland General Hospital, known as Kendal UTC.
As part of the review, the ICB has partnered with Healthwatch to independently gather feedback from patients and the public about their experiences and understanding of the service.
Who can take part in the Kendal UTC survey?
You don't need to have used Kendal Urgent Treatment Centre to take part.
We want to hear from people who have used the service, as well as those who haven't.
The survey asks about:
- How aware people are of Kendal UTC and the services it provides
- Why people choose to use – or not use – the service
- What works well
- What could be improved
If you have used Kendal UTC, you'll also have an opportunity to tell us more about your experience, including accessing the service, waiting times and quality of care.
If you haven't used the UTC, we want to understand why and how confident you feel about knowing when to use an Urgent Treatment Centre compared with other NHS services.
Why are we asking for your views?
Listening to local people's experiences helps us understand what's working well and where there may be opportunities for improvement.
By sharing your experience, you can help make sure the views of patients and the public are heard as part of the Kendal UTC commissioning review.
Your feedback will help inform discussions about the future of urgent care across South Cumbria and North Lancashire.
Is the survey anonymous?
Yes. The survey is anonymous.
Responses will be shared by the ICB with the partner organisations involved in the review to help inform future urgent care services.
Have your say
The survey closes on Sunday 13 September 2026.
