We are pleased to announce an important transition in the delivery of Cumberland’s Microenterprise Support Service. Effective from 8th September 2025, the service—previously managed by Community Catalysts CIC- will now be delivered by Cumberland-based charity, People First, under its new name: The Cumberland Cares Co-operative.
While the name and provider have changed, our commitment to supporting microenterprises remains steadfast. You will continue to receive the same high-quality, personalised support from familiar and trusted professionals. People First has been a cornerstone of community support in Cumbria for over 35 years. As a charity dedicated to promoting fairness, independence, and inclusion, we empower individuals and communities to thrive. Our locally based teams are proud to live and work in the communities we serve, and we bring a deep understanding of the region’s needs and aspirations.
We also operate several enterprises ourselves and actively support a growing network of microenterprises across Cumberland. We recognise the vital role these small organisations play in delivering care and preventative services, and we are committed to nurturing their growth through tailored support, training, and collaboration.
If you are an existing microenterprise delivering care or prevention-focused services in Cumberland, your support will now be provided by People First. We are delighted to welcome Becky Goddard—formerly of Community Catalysts—to our team. Becky brings a wealth of experience and will continue her excellent work in supporting microenterprises with dedication and insight. In the coming weeks, you will notice our branding and gain access to our digital resources, including our website and social media channels. While the support you receive will remain consistent for now, we look forward to gradually introducing new tools, training opportunities, and flexible ways to access support. These enhancements will be optional and designed to complement your existing services.
