People First Independent Advocacy, a leading advocacy charity committed to empowering individuals and amplifying their voices, is delighted to announce it has been awarded the Cumberland Adult Advocacy Contract. This continues to strengthen our ability to support individuals across Cumberland.
Under this new contract, People First will provide a range of essential advocacy services, including:
- Independent Advocacy: Ensuring people’s voices are heard in critical decisions about their care and rights.
- Specialist Support: Helping individuals confidently navigate complex systems such as health and social care.
- Promoting Inclusion: Creating opportunities for people to actively participate and engage within their communities.
A Trusted Advocate for Change
For over 35 years, People First has been at the forefront of championing equality, inclusion, and empowerment. This new contract further solidifies our role as a trusted partner advocating for individuals who face barriers to being heard.
Vicky Weir, Head of Advocacy at People First, shared her thoughts on the announcement:

Karen Bell, Cumberland Council, Assistant Director, Adult Social Care Operations said:
“Cumberland Council are looking forward to working with People First Independent Advocacy who have been awarded the contract to deliver Cumberland new Advocacy hub contract which will see all the Council Adult statutory advocacy services delivered under a hub model for the first time to bring about efficiencies with multi-functional Advocates trained to meet all Cumberland customers statutory advocacy needs.”
