Our advocate Claire supported a customer with a Care Act review of his care and support, he said:
I feel that professionals listen to me more now, thanks to my advocate Claire who has helped me express my views and wishes.
Because of my circumstances, it has been difficult for me to be fully in control. But now, with the right support in place, I trust the people around me to do the things that I am comfortable and happy with. I also have a much better understanding of my rights.
Claire has been a huge part of this journey. She helped me reach the point where I can open up and trust people again, something I couldn’t do before. In the past, I wasn’t happy with the care and support I was receiving, but since Claire’s involvement, everything has improved.
I am truly happy with the outcome. Without People First, I would still be stuck in a life filled with anxiety and unhappiness. Meeting Claire was a turning point, we connected instantly as equals. Her positive outlook brought sunshine into my life. She was always reliable, always on time, and whenever she said she would speak up for me, she followed through.
With her help, I’ve been able to remove many negative things from my life. Now, my home feels free from the pressure of trying to please people who didn’t understand what living with a brain injury means.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you.
