The Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training on Learning Disability and Autism aims to provide all healthcare staff with the right skills and knowledge to provide safe, compassionate and informed care to people with a learning disability and autistic people. This training session is Tier 2 is a one day face to face training session with a lead trainer, an expert with lived experience trainer of learning disability and an autistic expert with lived experience trainer. This tier is aimed at staff who may provide care and support.
Why is Oliver's Training so important?
The Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training on Learning Disability and Autism has been co-developed with people with a learning disability and autistic people. It is named after Oliver McGowan, whose tragic, avoidable death shone a light on the need for health and social care staff to receive better training.
It is the government's preferred and recommended training for health and social care staff.
