Are you organised, accurate and looking for a finance role where your work genuinely makes a difference?
We are looking for a Finance Officer to join our friendly and supportive finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with finance, bookkeeping or accounts experience to develop their skills while supporting two successful not-for-profit organisations. The role involves supporting day-to-day financial operations and contributing to a range of core finance functions within a collaborative finance team.
You will be joining a team that values being approachable, sharing knowledge and taking the time to help each other when things are busy.
As a Finance Officer, you will help ensure financial transactions are processed accurately, records are maintained to a high standard and colleagues receive professional and responsive finance support. Your work will help departments such as advocacy, learning and engagement deliver vital services to some of the most vulnerable people in our communities.
About the Role
Working as part of a small and supportive team, you will be involved in activities such as:
- Purchase and sales ledger processing.
- Bank and card reconciliations.
- Journal entries and month-end support.
- Payroll administration support and staff expenses.
- Maintaining accurate financial records and documentation.
- Assisting with month-end and year-end processes.
- Responding to finance queries from colleagues and external contacts.
- Supporting strong financial controls and continuous improvement initiatives.

About You
We are looking for someone who:
- Has experience working in a finance, accounts, bookkeeping or similar financial administration role.
- Understands basic accounting processes and financial controls.
- Is confident using Microsoft Excel and finance systems.
- Has excellent attention to detail and takes pride in producing accurate work.
- Can organise and prioritise their workload effectively.
- Enjoys working collaboratively and building positive working relationships.
- Is proactive, adaptable and keen to learn.
Desirable
It would be advantageous if you have:
- AAT qualifications, are currently studying towards AAT, or have equivalent experience.
- Knowledge or experience of payroll processes.
- Experience within a charity, CIC, voluntary sector or not-for-profit organisation.
- Experience supporting month-end, year-end or audit processes.
- Experience using Sage 50, iPlicit or another accounting system.
What We Offer
- Salary of £27,000 FTE (pro rata for part-time hours).
- Flexible working hours between 22.5 and 37.5 hours per week.
- Choice of office base across Carlisle, Morecambe, Barrow, Workington or Leyland.
- Study support for AAT or other relevant finance qualifications (subject to organisational policy and approval).
