A family in Workington is looking for two positive, energetic, and fun Personal Assistants to support their happy and affectionate 7-year-old son.

He has autism, PICA, and a severe learning disability. He enjoys cuddles, is a big oral sensory seeker, and prefers quieter environments, away from busy areas. He loves to explore and to be out in wide open spaces, where he can run and bounce.

The role involves providing personal care, behavioural and emotional support, and helping with his communicate using non-verbal methods.

This position requires someone who is understanding and attentive, with experience supporting children with additional needs and the ability to promote his safety, wellbeing and development.

Main Duties:

• Providing personal care.
• Offering emotional and behavioural support.
• Supporting with communication as he is non-verbal and uses gesturing and leading to communicate.
• Travelling with him using transport such as cars and buses.
• Supporting trips to parks and other community activities.
• Accompanying him swimming and on other enjoyable outings.

Working Pattern / Days: Weekends, School Holidays

Essential:

  • An Enhanced DBS check is required for this role and will be funded by the employer.

Desirable:

  • Have previous care or support experience
  • Hold a full driving licence
