Job Title: Personal Assistant (PA) – 1:1 Support for a 13-Year-Old Boy with Global Developmental Delay

Location: Carlisle, CA1
Job Type: Part-time (Direct Payment role)
Hours: 4 hours per week (flexible on days)

Pay Rate: £12.71 per hour

URGENT COVER REQUIRED FOR SUMMER HOLIDAYS

About the Role:
A family in Carlisle is looking for a friendly and reliable Personal Assistant (PA) to provide 1:1 support for their sociable 13-year-old son, who has global developmental delay and continence needs.

He is verbal, but his communication skills are delayed, and he needs extra support to help him develop independence, confidence, and life skills. Due to his older brother’s higher level of needs, he can sometimes miss out on the focused attention and opportunities he enjoys. This new PA role will give him the dedicated time and support he needs to have fun, gain confidence, and build social skills.

He loves getting out and about, and the PA will support him to take part in community-based activities such as visits to the park, swimming, shopping, and other local outings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 support during community activities, ensuring he is safe, included, and enjoying himself.
  • Support him to access fun and meaningful activities such as going to the park, swimming, and shopping.
  • Encourage communication, social interaction, and independence in a relaxed and supportive way.
  • Provide personal care, including continence support, as needed.
  • Always maintain close supervision due to his limited safety awareness.
  • Adapt activities to suit his interests, needs, and energy levels.

Requirements:

  • Enhanced DBS check (funded by the employer)
  • Full driving licence (preferred)
