Parents are seeking a personal assistant to support their 12-year-old son.

Advertised on behalf of a parent:

Our son is a cheerful and sociable 12-year-old boy who has global developmental delay and experiences delays across all areas of development. He is non-verbal and communicates using a communication pad and PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System).

Our son requires support to help him express his needs, choices, and preferences.

Our son has delays in fine motor skills and requires assistance with feeding, although he can drink independently from a bottle. He is currently in nappies and requires support with personal care.

Our son needs one-to-one supervision and support to ensure his safety, wellbeing, and full participation in activities.

Despite his challenges, our son is a very happy, outgoing young person who enjoys being active and getting out into the community. Some of his favourite activities include:

  • Playing computer games, especially Sonic and Mario
  • Swimming
  • Looking at and enjoying books
  • Going for walks, particularly at the beach
  • Trips to the cinema
  • Travelling on public transport
  • Visiting the library
  • Exploring new places and enjoying days out
  • Our son would love someone who enjoys having fun, sharing his interests and helping him access the activities he loves. Our son is looking for someone who can support him to enjoy life to the fullest while helping him communicate and engage with the world around him.
