On Sunday 11th March, for the first time, People First were represented by runners in the annual Carlisle Half Marathon.

It all started in early 2022 when Carlisle Half Marathon event organisers, IM Running Events, agreed to donate a number of reduced price entries for this year's runs, which includes the Half Marathon, 10K and 2K fun run.
The Fundraising Team then pulled on their running shoes to find kind-hearted-Cumbrians to take part and raise money for People First's work and customers.

Through an online awareness campaign and partnerships, we received wonderful support from local people and local businesses, including Marsh Commercial and our Business Partners, Online Systems.
Our runners included staff from Online Systems who took part in the 2K Fun Run and has so far raised an amazing £120! Claire Reid from Marsh Commercial and her son Jacob also raised well above their £50 targets with their final totals still to be confirmed.

The day itself was a huge success and the atmosphere at Brunton Park in Carlisle was electric. The cheers from family, friends and volunteers created a real buzz and sense of excitement, as over 1,100 runners took to the start line. Although the skies were grey to begin with, the sunshine soon made an appearance, just in time for the race to begin.
Natalie Bingham, Fundraising Officer said; “This is the first time People First have had a presence at the Carlisle Half Marathon and what a fabulous time we had. Our runners have gone above and beyond their fundraising targets and smashed some personal goals too.'
